It’s conference season for librarians!

You wouldn’t believe how many library-related conferences happen every year. There are, of course, the big ones like American Library Association, Medical Library Association, Association of College & Research Libraries, and Computers in Libraries. There are also smaller ones like Art Libraries Society of North America/ Visual Resources Association Joint Conference, Council on East Asian Libraries Conference, Handheld Library Online Conference, LOEX (Library Orientation Exchange) Annual Conference, Internet Librarian, and the list goes on and on.

This year through personal funding and awarded scholarships, Warner librarians were able to attend two different conferences. Mark Puterbaugh just returned from Computers in Libraries which was held in Washington, D.C. This week, I’m heading to Philadelphia (how convenient!!) to attend the national Association of College & Research Libraries conference.

Library conferences are a great time to meet with colleagues and learn about the latest trends and best practices happening in libraries across the country and sometimes even globally. For me, I always come back with my head spinning full of exciting new library services, computer tools and technology that I would love to implement here in Warner.

Across the board, the trends this year seem to be mobile services & ebooks. In next week’s blog post, I plan on highlighting some of the innovative services and technology other libraries are engaged in that both Mark and I learned about by attending these conferences.
