Films on Demand Guide: Sharing_Videos

We’re starting this semester off on an exciting note- we digitized our first collection and we have subscribed to a collection of streaming videos! One of our newest databases is Films on Demand. This database is composed of videos from the Films for Humanities and Sciences academic video distribution company. Our current collection primarily focuses on business and economic subjects, but the videos are largely cross-disciplinary and address topics like advertising, the environment, international issues, ethics, psychology, gender studies, and more. Films on Demand also feature videos from ABC News, BBC, The Bill Moyers Collection, Cambridge Educational, PBS News Hour, 4 Learning, bio., CBC Television, CNBC Specials, Meridian, ABC Nightline, and more. Films on Demand also allows you to embed videos in Blackboard. Simply copy the embedding code from the video’s page and paste into your Blackboard course. You will also need to include the university’s Films on Demand username and password for your students to enter. Contact Andrea Reed for this information.

To access Films on Demand on-campus, visit the library’s homepage and click on Databases. Off-campus? First log into your MyAthens account, and then select Films on Demand from the library’ s list of resources. Our current subscription to Films on Demand offers over 800 videos. At the top of this post are two helpful guides for you to use as you learn about Films on Demand.

Want access to more? Here in the library we’re always trying to provide the Eastern Community with the resources they need to be successful here. Let us know if you like Films on Demand and want us to expand our collection to include other subjects like education, philosophy, religion, history, literature, social sciences, physical sciences, and more.
