Life as a Librarian

Warner Librarian presents at international conference!

Our very own Mark Puterbaugh is a rock star in the librarian profession. He recently returned from Trondheim, Norway after presenting at the Emerging Technologies in Academic Libraries conference (emtacl ’12).

Mark and Hua Sun (learn more about Hua here!) presented on their ongoing collaboration between Eastern University’s Warner Library in PA and Shandong University of the Arts in Shandong Province in the PRC.

“The presentation discusses how international collaborations may occur through the use of social media, the difficulties faced by such collaborations and the necessity and benefits of working with international colleagues. The presentation addresses the challenges in forming international collaborations, taking into consideration physical distance, technological variations, culture, language and the role that social media can play in overcoming these obstacles.” —http://emtacl.com/submitted-abstracts/#Hua

Mark had an amazing time in Trondheim, not only taking in the beautiful Norweign landscape, but also networking and learning from librarian colleagues from around the world. Click on the link below to view Mark and Hua’s presentation slides.
